FRI - May 18 / Day Ten and Client Presentations

Today was the last day of the venture and my favorite. It is the day when the clients present what they have learned, how they were affected, and how they see their businesses impacting the kingdom. It is such a powerful day!

The consultants tend to get a bit emotional for several reasons: their “chicks” are hatching, the venture pressure lifts, they might be suffering from sleep depravation (most were up late finishing all of the deliverables).

Chaos often reigns and excitement runs high until the first presentation starts, when everything calms to a dull roar, with anticipation simmering just under the surface. The clients present one by one for 15-20 minutes and then are commissioned as Marketplace Ministers. This is a new mantle/position to take into their workplace to reach those they work with/for with Jesus’ message through their actions and their new way of conducting business.

Personally, I don’t think those commissioned by rēp to go forward as Marketplace Ministers understand what that responsibility fully entails. Their understanding grows as time passes and life rolls forward. Of course, it only goes as far as the individual lets it, so nothing is certain. When the rēp experience has its full impact, God is in control of EVERYTHING, He is the CEO of your life, business, and your existence becomes realigned with His purposes and plans.

Thank you to DMZ Networks, Fundamo, Grant Johnson, Mustard Seed Foundation, Power Building, Power Development, Rezi-J Consulting, and urbantonic for letting us as rēp come alongside you and “jump-start” this wild-adventurous process of repurposing you and your businesses. We look forward to hearing the results!

THU - May 17 / Day Nine and Crunch Time

338697-825056-thumbnail.jpgToday was our last unstructured day and most of us headed off to our client locations for our final meetings. My client, Ross Wilson (owner of urbantonic, an Event Management company) picked me up at 7am and we jumped on the N1 to head south before the traffic got too bad. His warehouse and office is in the southern suburb of MeadowRidge 6 minutes away from where he and his wife, Claire, and 11 month old, Cameron live. We stopped at the office so that Ross could read through the list of interview questions before the candidates for his open Event Manager position started coming in.

It looked good and we left to pick up Claire for a delicious traditional South African breakfast at The Wine Café a few minutes away, but first I got the chance to meet little Cameron who is quite the charmer!

Back at the office, I sat in on Ross’s meeting with the graphic design contractor who is revamping urbantonic’s website. The new site looks great and after the meeting, Ross suggested that the designer consider being an equip client during the next venture. Go Ross!

After that, I had meetings with the final three of Ross’s 7 managers to find out more about them and what types of training and development would be most relevant for them personally and professionally as People is the “P” Ross would like to target first. His main goal is to see his team and all people in general through God’s eyes. Wouldn’t the world be such a peaceful and amazing place if we all did that?

We ended the work day with a meeting with his General Manager discussing People strategies and how to incorporate some of the things we’ve learned on the venture while Ross is away on holiday.

Crunch Time in the Lodge Lounge
Now all the consultants are back at Feathers Lodge frantically working on our deliverables that we have to deliver to the clients tomorrow.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

WED - May 08 / Day Three / Product and Presence

Johan talks about Process
Today, we completed the last two Ps of the scorecard: Planning and Process. Jodene taught on Planning and Johan Boot taught on Process. We continued to work with our clients on the scorecards, as there is a lot to bring together now and tidy up from the previous days work.

Each day we are given many opportunities to indulge in the scrumptious food of South Africa. Afternoon tea today included a delectable desert called ‘cooked sisters’, which is deep fried in sugar!

Stephan is the first client to be commissioned into the marketplace this May
We also had the first client presentation and commissioning. Stephan has a company conference to attend on Friday and Saturday, so he was able to deliver his presentation today and we commissioned him to the marketplace.

The day concluded with a lamb spit-roast for dinner with equip alumni. We could smell the lamb cooking since 3 in the afternoon, so our appetites were well groomed for the wonderful meal.

Johan, Gayle and Koos enjoy ‘cooked sisters’
It is hard to imagine that we are coming to a close to our time here in Cape Town. This week is moving more rapidly than last week, and we are storing up so many precious memories (too many to divulge here) to bring back home to share.

“Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

TUE - May 15 / Day Seven and Visiting Parliament

338697-822678-thumbnail.jpg
Lunch at the South African Parliament
Today, we had the wonderful privilege of visiting the South African Parliament. Steve Swart, an MP (member of parliament), invited our whole team to come and have lunch with him. We ate in a beautiful banquet room and Steve shared with us a bit about his party and his involvement in the government here in South Africa. He is a member of the ACDP (African Christian Democratic Party), which has just 4 members now. There are eleven parties represented in the South African Parliament, some very large and others quite small, like ACDP. After lunch, we had a chance to watch some of the proceedings in the Parliament chambers. One member of the ACDP spoke for a few moments and we were in awe of the fact that she boldly proclaimed Jesus’s name and was allowed to do so as a government official! Although, the party is quite small at the moment (just 4 MPs out of 400 total), they are trusting that the Lord will do great works in the nation through their involvement, and that the party will continue to grow to fulfill God’s plan for Africa.

The visioning sessions continued today, as several teams met with the intercessors to pray and seek God’s wisdom and guidance in all that they are doing.

Later in the evening, most of us joined our clients for dinner out or at their homes. This was a very special experience for the US consultants and an opportunity to experience a bit of regular South African life within our client’s homes.

MON - May 14 / Day Six and the Second Week

“For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break out into singing and all the trees of the fields will clap their hands.”
Isaiah 55:12

Sam talks about Profit
After an amazing weekend of seeing God’s creations in South Africa and recharging via a little downtime, it was back to the office Monday morning. We started off with time of prayer and giving thanks for the last week of God’s grace and blessings. Shortly after our clients showed up, we started right into the “Ps” for the day. Monday would be full, as we had to cover 3 of them. The first “P” was “Profit”. Sam did a great job outlining the importance of profit in a business, and how the “worlds” standard of profit is all about money, the bottom line, maximizing gain, excess, obtaining advantage or benefit. In God’s economy, profit limitless and is all about using it as a resource to serve an eternal purpose. Sam challenged us all with many questions, including…

How can you create a greater Kingdom Impact through the profits you make?
- Internal Kingdom Impact (our employees)
- External Kingdom Impact (the world)

An acronym for PROFIT:
P = Purpose - What is the purpose of your profit?
R = Reap - You reap what you sow. What are you sowing?
O = Offer - What are you offering to God? Your household?
F = Follow - Whose prompting are you following? Are you following the world’s trends?
I = Invest - Who do you invest in?
T = Train - Who are you training up?

Praying for the leaders of Feathers Lodge
After scorecarding and a tea break, which is the same thing as running to Starbucks with co-workers back in the states, we went right into discussing the second “P”, which was “Place”. Some key points related to place were: The place where you work can affect one’s attitude (e.g., overall office environment). Place can also be several different things (e.g., your household; for an Internet business, it can be a virtual place, since place is their website). One of the key ways to improve “Place” is to introduce “Hospitality” and make your place inviting. Hospitality is about meeting other people’s needs. Look at the first part of the word “Hospital”. Hospitality is really about serving others/meeting their needs, while entertaining is about impressing. A question for us all is, “Do people sense the presence of God in your place?”

Our amazing clients!
The final “P” today was “Partnering”. The best example of partnering is the Godhead (e.g., the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three in one; they all work together in a partnership). From there, the discussion went into how partnering can greatly increase the overall impact of a company. A good example of this is VISA and the relationship it has with the airlines and the reward miles people can earn through their partners. We also discussed partners in terms of choosing mate. Partner means helper and leads to accomplishing more than we ourselves are capable of alone. Finally, partnering with unbelievers can lead to ineffective partnership with God if the partnership is structured or weighted in the wrong way, but it can also be a blessing for both sides.

Two leaders (Sonja/Owner and Aneen/General Manager) from Feathers Lodge gave a testimony to how partnering has helped their business over the years. The staff of Feathers Lodge has certainly been our partners during this venture too. They have catered to our every need and always greet us with a smile whenever we see them. Thank you Feathers Lodge for modeling a Godly example of how to serve like Christ with such enthusiasm! We love you all! :)

What God is telling us…

- Sowing and Reaping
Genesis 8:22
“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”

- Pleasing man over pleasing God…attitude of fear
Isaiah 2:22
“Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?”
