THU - May 17 / Day Nine and Crunch Time
Today was our last unstructured day and most of us headed off to our client locations for our final meetings. My client, Ross Wilson (owner of urbantonic, an Event Management company) picked me up at 7am and we jumped on the N1 to head south before the traffic got too bad. His warehouse and office is in the southern suburb of MeadowRidge 6 minutes away from where he and his wife, Claire, and 11 month old, Cameron live. We stopped at the office so that Ross could read through the list of interview questions before the candidates for his open Event Manager position started coming in.
It looked good and we left to pick up Claire for a delicious traditional South African breakfast at The Wine Café a few minutes away, but first I got the chance to meet little Cameron who is quite the charmer!
Back at the office, I sat in on Ross’s meeting with the graphic design contractor who is revamping urbantonic’s website. The new site looks great and after the meeting, Ross suggested that the designer consider being an equip client during the next venture. Go Ross!
After that, I had meetings with the final three of Ross’s 7 managers to find out more about them and what types of training and development would be most relevant for them personally and professionally as People is the “P” Ross would like to target first. His main goal is to see his team and all people in general through God’s eyes. Wouldn’t the world be such a peaceful and amazing place if we all did that?
We ended the work day with a meeting with his General Manager discussing People strategies and how to incorporate some of the things we’ve learned on the venture while Ross is away on holiday.![]()
Crunch Time in the Lodge LoungeNow all the consultants are back at Feathers Lodge frantically working on our deliverables that we have to deliver to the clients tomorrow.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Colossians 3:23-24
