rēp: Our History
The story behind rēp is both recent and rooted. In 1992 a team of business professionals led by Brett and Lyn Johnson founded “Professionals for Christ” which later changed its name to rēp. The goal was to mobilize marketplace believers to serve the kingdom with their professional skills.
The Institute for Innovation, Integration & Impact was founded in 1996 with a goal of “Partnering with leaders to maximize Impact.”® The Institute built an infrastructure of publications, methodologies, and Web-enabled diagnostic tools that are world class. The Institute is itself a kingdom-focused entity which describes itself as having “The Head of a Think Tank, Hands of a Business, Heart of Philanthropy.”®
Our first rēp venture to South Africa took place in April 2003 with many of the team coming from Silicon Valley Fellowship. South African teams have pioneered the “host country” elements of rēp. We are presently extending our reach to other countries including Indonesia and India.
Since then over 100 US-based consultants have teamed with a similar number of host country businesspeople to transform businesses. Teams now train in the San Francisco Bay Area (3 locations), the Pacific Northwest, Gauteng (including Johannesburg), Jakarta and Cape Town. New locations are being considered.
Our goal is that, through repurposed businesses, all spheres of societies will be transformed, starting with business, so that the Kingdom of God is extended to God’s glory.
